The half Bajan, half Guyanese singer from London talked to WOE about his first EP, the origin of his name, a world without love, and much more.

LOSTPOINTOFVIEW is honest in his songwriting. And everything comes from experience. He opened his debut project, With Love with the lyrics "I like you so much, so can you save yourself? Xavier Spurlock: I randomly came across your music and was immediately impressed. There isn’t much information out there about you. Can you tell me about yourself?

LOSTPOINTOFVIEW: First of all, Thank you so much I appreciate it.. I’m from London, I’m half Bajan (Barbados) half Guyanese (Guyana)

How did you come up with the name Lostpointofview?

A friend of mine started making music and called himself ‘CPOV’, he’s the real wave to me.. I just copied his name when he stopped making music. 

When did you start making music?

I’d say from 2016.

How would you describe your music?

I think the perfect way to describe it is ‘forever sound’.. I don’t make music for the moment, I make it for forever.

I hear some Post Malone and OVO Sound in your music. Who have been some of your influences?

I get a lot of influence from Partynextdoor, The Dream & then older groups like SWV and KutKlose.

With Love was your first ep?

Correct.

What was the process of putting it together?

Me and my producer ‘Rillovista’ were both just going through the motions and decided to make a very honest EP.

When you’re writing a song, how do you know when you have an idea worth pursuing?

I don’t, until I start recording.. I’m not the strongest singer so I just do what sounds best.

What does the title “With Love” mean to you?

With love is how I say farewell to past relationships. Everything’s said and done with love.

How would you describe this project?

I would describe it as honest and timeless.

You’ve released videos for a lot of your singles. Will the same come from the EP and what do you want to express with the visuals?

I might do visuals for the EP in the future, but as of now I’m focused on the next single.

Is the next single on this project? 

Nah brand new..showcasing my ability to make a hit melodic rap song.

What is your favorite LostPointOFView song?

Probably ‘use me’ that song to me is flawless and really well-written.

Your writing is what stood out the most to me. What’s your songwriting process?

I’m very in tune with my emotions, I find it easy to talk about things that have happened.. the words just come to me.

Are you are writing from personal experiences?

Always, every single song is personal, all truth no lies.

Do you think you’re actually in love with pain?

I think I was, for a long time..due to the world and how it is I feel like we’ve all become numb..pain is one of the few times I feel something.

Your music covers many different sides of love—from falling, breaking up, reminiscing, etc. What stage are you in now & which stage is the most inspirational for you?

I’m a lover, no one part is more important than the other to me, the most enjoyable is definitely the falling part. 

With Love comes what?

Great risk.

Is it better to love & lose or never love at all?

To love for sure, a world with no love is hell.

What’s next for you?

Hopefully more tune. I’m just gonna keep releasing and praying.
